Keeping safe from COVID-19 on task
Here are the rules that apply to our work sessions, which are continuing from 17th May 2021 under the latest guidelines.
Travel
Please avoid using public transport if at all possible. You will be required to wear face coverings if travelling on public transport or by taxi. On leaving any public transport/taxi you should wash your hands or use sanitiser gel (the so-called Wet-Wipes do not qualify). Single use car travel is advised. Where more than one person is travelling in a single vehicle, then a face covering is required by all those travelling. It is advisable to keep vehicle windows open while travelling. |

Meeting point and on site
Only those volunteers who have registered their contact details with the Group Leader will be allowed to remain with the group when on site. Volunteers must register with the Group Leader at the beginning of the work period. The Group Leader will maintain a register of attendees for each date and task so as to facilitate contact tracing in the case of suspected cases of Covid-19. We will maintain social distancing of 2 metres wherever possible, but where necessary (e.g. collecting/returning tools and equipment) this can be reduced to 1 metre +. The maximum group size allowed outdoors is now 30 persons, to reduce the risk of spreading the disease. Remain with your allocated group throughout the work period and do not intermingle with other groups. Any interaction with members of the public must respect the 2 metre social distancing. |
Tool Handling and PPE
Wherever possible use your own tools. Shared tools will be sanitised before being brought to the site. Do not pick up or use anyone else’s tool until the tool has been sanitised (95% alcohol spray will be available). Shared tools must be sanitised at the end of the work session prior to loading into the transporting vehicle, using the supplied alcohol spray. It is not always appropriate to use face coverings while working, so maintain the 2 metre social distancing. New work gloves will be issued – these will be retained by each volunteer and should be sanitised after each work session. Remember to bring these for each session as no ‘spares’ will be available. ‘No gloves – no work!’ Please bring your own hand sanitiser gel as soap and water are not available. |
Tea breaks
There will be no sharing of cake/sausage rolls or any other foodstuff – you may bring your own snack and drink only!
Remain with your allocated group during tea breaks (or wander off on your own) but do not congregate with other work groups.
