Big applause for the team, as today we finished the final section of dead hedge that completes the enclosure of the current area of coppicing in Banstead Wood. The hedge extends for no fewer than 250 metres, or around 274 yards in old money, and will protect the regrowth of all the newly coppiced hazel stools. And because the area is completely enclosed it will also protect wildlife and plants from damage and disturbance. We're also looking forward to seeing what will come up now that the woodland floor is more open to the light. Graham K
